News- Kayaker Drowns in Gore Rapid

Pyrite Falls, a short distance below where the accident took place
A kayaker has drowned in Gore Rapid, sources say, after he was ejected from his boat. The incident, which occurred on Thursday August 11, took place at Gore Rapid. The victim, who has been identified as James "Jamie" Page, a 25-year-old man from Pennsylvania, had apparently become stuck in "Ginger," the strong hole on the "meat" line of Gore Rapid and swam. This is the second fatal accident in the canyon this summer.

The first accident occurred on July 24th when 19-year-old Avon, CO resident, Patrick Kelsall apparently fell from a cliff at night near Appelsauce Rapid. Our thoughts our with friends and families of both victims.
